Miyuki Motoki "Knots of Breath"
Osaka Nikon Salon
This event has ended.
The artist has been photographing a Hokkaido farm family for many years, making the switch in equipment from chemical camera to a high-mobility digital camera along the way. The family's daily life neither consists of pastoral labor or overflowing scenes of nature. There is noise created from machines, media tumult, urban scenery and scenes that have been invaded by consumer culture. Rather, the farm family's daily lives carved out by the photographer highlights the strain of modern society in which geographic spaces such as nature and topography overlap, tangle with and rub against cultural and societal spaces.
