This event has ended.

During the pre-modern period when religion had a large influence on people's lives, the monks had multiple roles; in addition to their religious guidance, they also became scholars and intellectuals. This exhibition features portraits of monks who had connections to Wakayama, and examines why these portraits were created and how they were used and passed on.
