Born and raised in Peru, Mr. Ponce became interested in photography at age 13. He first used a box camera with 126 roll film, building his first enlarger using discarded materials the following year. Initially interested in photographing people, Mr. Ponce's work now focuses on objects and nature scenes. Mr. Ponce has worked exclusively with film until this year, when he has begun using digital cameras.
