This event has ended.

The exhibition title, “Surface of Window,” refers to the reflective surface of a windowpane. The surface represents one’s spirituality and the external world, which are seen through the window of society. The exhibited works explore the artists’ relationships with spirituality and society through diverse contemporary expressions. This biennially held exhibition is part of a ten-year project expanding upon a main theme of photography and the various media of contemporary artists as they pertain to the concept of photography. “Slow and Tense Atmosphere” refers to Kyoto and its sense of spirituality. From this city, the project aims to introduce contemporary artists and their movements to international audiences. The second exhibition in the series is titled “Actuality and Boundary” and features photographic artwork from Japan, Belgium, Switzerland, the USA, and Taiwan.
