This international competition features not only of modern art, but also of a wide spectrum of genres including the performing arts. One of the major aims of the event is to promote the fusion and interaction of different artistic and cultural fields by shining a light on culture as a whole, including traditional culture and lifestyles, in addition to conventional art.
In the Meriken Park area a number of events will be held including the Art in a Container International Competition, Shitsurai International Art Competition, The Future of Ikebana Exhibition, Contemporary ceramic art Competition, Public exhibition of artworks by disabled artists (Heart Art Kobe Exhibition) and so forth.
