“The people we are closest to are our husbands, and we wonder if there’s a reason we couldn’t do without them. Why, after becoming husband and wife, are we still in search of emotion born from body temperature and body temperature born from emotion? As a way of answering this question, we preserved the everyday relationships of husbands and wives in photographs. Neither lovers nor fathers, our husbands are the ‘strangers’ closest to us. These photographs spotlight their presence in our lives.”
