“Are you happy?” Many Japanese may have difficulty in answering this question, simply because while most may not be in desperate times, they are still dissatisfied with their lives. Misato Fujita attempts to encapsulate this dissatisfaction and apathy in her charming works. Her swimmer in a rubber ring, pictured, seems to say “rather than float on the waves of life, swim towards your goal!”
