Renowned Japanese photographer Taikichi Irie (1905-1992) spent half a century, beginning from prior to the Second World War, documenting the ancient Yamatoji sites in Nara. This exhibition looks at how Irie sought to capture the region’s hidden beauty, creating works with a profound sense of spatiality and harmony with nature, but that also seem to convey the significance of the region’s history.
