Kunst Arzt presents a solo exhibition for Mami Yamada, an artist who shakes viewer’s assumptions and perceptions with works of cool and polished visual expression. Her oeuvre includes “just a moment deg C (2010),” which features the ticking of a clock with frozen hands, “all with nothing (2012), a piece that encourages speculation on the nature of existence through the absence of reflective light, and “temp temp (2010), which is composed of two thermometers dividing the temperature of a single point between them. Yamada creates unique units of measurement through the concept of time and the physical phenomena that are closely tied to the spaces of our everyday lives. Installations reflecting the artist’s sharpened critical acuity are on display.
