This event has ended.

Goshinboku are holy trees found on the grounds or roads leading to shrines. From ancient times, Japanese people’s belief in gods has been rooted in a reverence for the nature and the four seasons. In these photographs Zentaro Yamamura hopes to tell the story of how goshinboku, still present in our lives, have been safeguards of the Japanese spirit.
