The O-Shiraishi Mochi Festival at Ise Shrine

Jingu Museum

This event has ended.

This year, Japan’s most important Shinto shrine, Ise Jingu, will undergo a once-in-twenty-years reconstruction, called Shikinen Sengu, culminating in a ceremony in October called Sengyo. This exhibition covers a procession in July called O-Shiraishi Mochi Gyoji, when people come from around Japan to move white pebbles from the old to the new site of the Shrine.
