Enter the world of up-and-coming animator, Kunio Kato (1977-), who became the first Japanese recipient of the Academy Award for the Best Animated Short Film in 2009 for his work, “La Maison en Petits Cubes.” Kato’s charming, hand-drawn animations are characterized by warm coloring and have a timeless feel.
