This event has ended.

Deconstructing the meaning of existing products and spaces, with eccentric humor the sculptor Takuya Yamashita makes skillful use of the unique characteristics and conditions of various places. He takes forgotten objects such as soccer mascots from long ago, old clothing, trash bags, hammers, and other used and aged items, releasing them from their former purposes and giving them new existences in which they can once again survive. These intriguing transformations shine a paradoxical light on existing ideas, offering a rich and diverse perspective.

In this solo show, Yamashita takes sculptures displayed in his simultaneously-held “Weaklings” exhibition at Art Zone and with the help of volunteers moves them to Antenna Media, the starting point of an event that parades the sculptures through the streets of Kyoto. On the first day of the exhibition (11/9 Sat), the works will make an appearance on the first floor of AM before arriving at Antenna Media, where they will be displayed until 11/17 (Sun), when they set off on their next journey.
