This event has ended.

An opportunity to see the works of prominent Chinese artist Liu Xia who has been under house arrest since her husband Liu Xiaobo was awarded the 2010 Nobel Peace Prize.
Liu Xia’s monochrome photographs convey not only her feelings towards her husband who is currently in prison but also her intense desire to express herself freely. A pair of dolls which she names “ugly babies,” for example, seem to represent the couple themselves suffering yet persevering under extreme political pressures. Although the photographs have been created under unusual circumstances, the feelings of repression that they carry reverberate strongly even in Japanese society.
