Surface of Window: Slow & Tense Atmosphere “Actuality and Boundary”
Gakei Gimlet SAAS
This event has ended.
The title “Surface of Window” refers to the reflected surface on a windowpane. The surface represents one’s spirituality, and the external world, which is seen through the window, expresses society. The works explore the artists’ relationships with spirituality and society through diverse contemporary expressions. This show, one of a series of biennial exhibitions, is part of a ten-year project expanding on the theme of how photography and other media used by contemporary artists pertain to the concept of photography. “Slow and Tense Atmosphere” refers to Kyoto and its sense of spirituality. It is from this city that the project aims to introduce contemporary artists and their movements to international audiences. The second exhibition of the project, “Actuality and Boundary,” will feature photographic art from Japan, Belgium, Switzerland, the USA, and Taiwan.
