The children’s illustrator and writer Takeo Takei had a passion for books and published limited editions for members with his own independent press. These books were not just a means of distributing his pictures and stories but were entire works of art in themselves, with Takei paying minute attention not only to the cover design but as far as the paper and printing technique, even experimenting with materials such as cellophane, wood and ceramics in their production. Of the 139 series of books he published in this way 70 are gathered here in a rare chance not only to view these collectors items but also to purchase them.
