After winning the Shiogama Photo Festival award in 2011, Takashi Kuratani went on to publish his first photo collection in 2013 under the title of “Open the Curtain”. Dealing with his father’s disability and subsequent death he records his belongings, old photos and once shared domestic scenes in an attempt to keep him alive just a little longer and question the meaning of family.
