Yuki Hayashi “A Garden of Light and Another House”

Hayashi creates animations from both photographs taken himself and enormous images found on the internet that are then cut and pasted. Showing the other world on the other side of the screen, these works and creative processes serve as a reminder of the presence of modern communication in the shape of the Internet or TV game.
This latest work, “A Garden of Light and Another House,” is a collaboration with architects “No Architects,” and is a design of the ideal house based on the results of a public questionnaire. “Another House” is constructed within the “Garden of Light” as photographic data. Purchasing “Another House” for 500 yen allows the buyer to become a resident within the “Garden of Light”. By paying actual money for virtual space in this way, this exhibition skillfully overlaps real and virtual worlds, which is reminiscent of Hayashi’s own experiences of buying a house within the game world. There will be 20 available ideal houses.
