This event has ended.

“Nirakusou” was the name given to a second residence built by Count Ōtani Kōzui (the 22nd Abbot of the West Honganji temple) in 1909, which became the site for a Buddhist Junior High School, a private meteorological observing station, and cultivation of musk melon. As a scientific research center, data from his expeditions to Buddhist sites in India and Central Asia were also opened to the public. However, regrettably, Nirakusou was destroyed by a fire in 1932. This special exhibition puts a spotlight on the activities of the Otani expeditionary party and shares new information on Nirakusou from recently discovered data.
