Landscape photographs should be taken with an understanding of the language that nature conveys. However, recently there are some landscape photos that seem to edit the words of nature and insert their own. Of course, these photos are highly artistic and catch the eye with their novel approaches, but whether or not they are truly qualify as landscape photography is debatable. These works chosen by the Japan Landscape Photography Association examine their subjects closely, becoming intimate with nature to capture it in its natural colors. They give the viewer a glimpse of the aspects of Japanese culture gleaned from an engagement with and study of nature.
