This event has ended.

Photojournalist Shisei Kuwabara’s exhibition shows the suffering and the neurological effects among people who ate mercury-tainted seafood in and around Minamata, Kumamoto Prefecture, in the 1950s. The photos in this exhibition are from among the 30,000 he has taken over the past 58 years.
To date, approximately 3000 people have been officially recognized as Minamata disease patients, yet there are a further 65,000 victims with symptoms of Japan’s worst case of industrial pollution, who are seeking aid and applying for compensation. The exhibition follows his 2013 exhibition at Ginza Nikon Salon, Tokyo, and Osaka Nikon Salon.
