This event has ended.

Using mainly natural materials such as earth and wood and common items including steel and glass, Daigo Omura (b. 1984) creates works with minimal amounts of intervention that shake the viewer’s perception. Incorporating everyday motifs, he plays on viewers’ knowledge, memories, experiences, and stories to turn objects into works of art by altering the “boundaries” constructed in perceiving them. To do this, he carefully observes and collects various elements and background information related to the meanings and forms of the objects, as well as the unique properties of space and the knowledge, histories, and fixed ideas of viewers. With these extracted elements, he applies ever-so-slight touches to his works, bringing out small deviations and senses of displacement. This exhibition, Omura’s second solo show at Gallery Parc, presents observational footage of the moon, wooden sculptures, and other works made with materials including swallows’ nests that tease out the beginning of new relationships between the viewer, objects, and space.
