Foil Gallery launched the Foil Award in Kyoto in 2013 to give young artists a platform for their work. Judged by Yoshitomo Nara and Foil’s Masakasu Takei, the contest solicits portfolios of ten B4-size pages of unreleased works. While there was no grand prize given out this year, this two-part exhibition presents works alive with freshness by eight artists who passed the preliminary round of judging.
