Shu Kubota portrays Japan’s seasonal landscapes and traditional culture in kiri-e works of cut paper. Overlapping multiple layers of thin, original Japanese paper, with unique methods he produces a new style of kiri-e evoking the textures of objects. Kubota has been working in places including New York, Spain, and Portugal as well as Japan in recent years, attracting international attention.
