Haruka Furusaka “Duodji of Reindeer Mountain”
Gallery Parc
Haruka Furusaka, 2014
This event has ended.
Haruka Furusaka has travelled to Norwegian Lapland in the Arctic Circle three times to stay with the nomadic Sami people. She has created watercolor prints, displayed here, based on sayings related to the traditional craft of Duodji practiced by Sami reindeer herders. Duodji crafts reflect the aesthetics and philosophy of the Sami. Around ten of Furusaka’s finely engraved prints made with earth and wood are presented, along with the woodblocks used to make them, earthen paint installations, boots, and other reindeer-related works.
