This event has ended.

New incubation pairs an established artist with a young artist chosen according to a common theme. Its sixth exhibition introduces the works of Sadaharu Horio and Ryotaro Fuyuki, which feature simple compositions while emanating strong and profound radiances. The “commonplace” has been a theme of Horio’s works since 1985. By repeating simple acts of painting with color, writing letters, and tearing up these letters, Horio offers a glimpse of the extraordinary that can emerge from the everyday through art. Ryotaro Fuyuki’s installations inspired by sudden ideas take “affinity” as their subject, pulling in and latching on to the viewer through shared perception. Both artists’ works make us ask “What is this?”, and in doing so expand our comprehension through subtle expertise that has the power to surprise and let us experience what we’ve never seen before.
