Kaibundo Centennial Festival “99+1”

Last year’s September closing of the book store Kaibundo, which would have turned 100 years old on June 1st, 2014, came as a big shock. The “99+1” exhibition evolved naturally out of a recognition of the importance of preserving Kaibundo’s legacy. Works by artists who loved and had ties to the store are presented at affordable prices, with all proceeds used to fund Yoshimasa Hirano’s book “The Books of Kaibundo”. Sold works will bear commemorative stickers with a special logo.
