From Gramophones to Radios to Television— Trends in Home Entertainment

Today we can enjoy music, movies, and plays from the comfort of our own home, and living in the internet age means we can watch or listen to what we want whenever and wherever we desire. Home entertainment has become a very normal part of our everyday lives, a trend that started with with the invention of the gramophone at the end of the 19th century and the spread of records in people’s homes. This exhibition presents a chronological display of gramophones, radios, and TVs dating from the mid-1890s through the mid-1960s from the university’s collection.
