This event has ended.

In his photography, Yoshihiro Matsui concentrates on the landscapes, events, and Shugendo (aescetic-shamanism) practices of the mountain regions of Nara Prefecture. This exhibition presents works capturing the sacred sites and pilgrimage routes of the Kii mountains, registered as a Unesco World Heritage Site ten years ago. The Omine Okugakemichi Path is known as the steepest religious route of the Kumano Ancient Roads, and Matsui went to witness the spiritual rituals still practiced here himself. These photographs let the viewer experience the severity and profundity of these sacred rites.
