This event has ended.

Maoya Kishi’s simplistic and functional installations and sculptures made of materials including blue tarps, stryofoam, and sawed wood have a unique lightness and extreme sculptural senses of dimension and mass. Kishi’s many exhibitions, which include a 2011 window display at Maison Hermes Ginza and “Real Japanesque” at the National Museum of Art, Osaka in 2012, have attracted much attention for Kishi’s very straightforward way of smashing pre-established harmonies in response to viewers’ interpretations of these works. This exhibition, fully titled “Ways to Adjust (1) Dowsing for Finding, (2) Roping to Sustain, (3) Paralyzing for Handling”, focuses on the idea of “preparing” and the supplemental materials involved in this act of creation.
