This event has ended.

This exhibition is an homage to J. D. Okhai Ojeikere, who passed away in February, 2014. Galerie du jour agnès b. supported his work for many years as a pioneer of African photography. His remarkable series “Hair Style” focuses on the art of African hairdos, which Ojeikere photographed every day in the street, at the office, and at parties. He sometimes shot his his models from behind, sometimes in profile, and very rarely face forward. His work is both objective and subjective, a mix of ethnographic vision and aesthetics portrayed in black and white photographs that latch on to a fleeting beauty. This exhibition is part of Kyotographie.
