This event has ended.

In 1969, surfers, designers, musicians and comedians started to gather in an area full of warehouses and residences, for a one-month residency tour called the “American Summer Camp”. With the triangular park as the center, small businesses such as US import jeans stores, secondhand clothes stores, and old record stores appeared and became established. This is the root of the infamous “American Village” in Osaka.
45 years later, American Village has a very particular sense of fashion and culture. The people who make this area fresh are those that first made this village; those that inherit the village and renew it; those that visit the village and accept, understand, and enjoy it. They are the creators, the performers, and the spectators.
Susumu Shinya documents this story with photographs.
