This summer sees 69 years since the end of World War II. Those who directly experienced the war, Japan’s aging population, are fading out, handing down wartime records and memories from generation to generation with hope to maintain a peaceful world. This exhibition looks not only at the wartime period but the period of occupation after the war, clarifying the conditions of civil life during this time and providing a historical background on children from the prewar days to the postwar period, through various data, photographs and video testimonies.
