Ayano Honda and Yumi Nakata are two artists who having studied textiles came to rest on a practice of sculpture and painting. Their vivid use of color and energetic forms gives their work a certain pop art feel at first glance, yet behind this lies a certain bite. In the act of making they attempt to reach a condition beyond control, connecting with a presence beyond their individual selves and here join together in creating a certain discord in the gallery space. This exhibition is shown simultaneously alongside the shows of Itoh + Bak “0099” and Seishu Niihira + Mitsuhiro Kishimoto “Surge/Reblog”.
