The portrait is an obvious choice for anyone starting in photography, from lovers to children to parents, the camera allows one to gather images of the people close at hand. There is some impulse to take the shutter to another’s face which is filled with a rich expression, reflecting the state of feeling at that very moment. And in turn as the photographer attempts to capture this they are also brought to share in joy, sadness and isolation. The portrait photograph may be said to be a baton of feeling which is then passed on to the viewer and here 12 artists gather in this relay.
