Aya Fujioka “Life Studies”

At first traveling to New York for studies supported by the Agency for Cultural Affairs in 2008, Aya Fujioka went on to spend a total of 4 years in the city where she furthered her photography practice. This exhibition presents the result of this 4 year period, documenting the characters around her, including a pathological liar of a boyfriend, a neighbour high on marijuana and a narcissistic room mate, appearing amongst other motifs of tragic looking children and seemingly confrontational couples, brought together in the whirl wind energy of the great city.
