Myanmar is drawing attention as “the final frontier of Asia.” Masashi Matsui, an Asia-trotting photographer, has captured the lives of these mild but devout Buddhists from the perspective of the common people. Images of oxcarts leisurely traveling down country roads, women working in fields, and monks praying earnestly at ancient temples touch upon the soul of the Burmese, a people who have their feet planted firmly in this great earth.
