This event has ended.

The “Door to Art” series spotlights artists whose creativity has a fresh and youthful feeling. Its first exhibition features Asuka Nakayama, whose paintings seem fantastical yet draw on senses of contradiction and unease that invisibly tear at the security of childhood memories and sudden moments of inspiration and emotion. Sharp observational skills and a critical eye are necessary for depicting such moments of tension, and Nakayama’s works portray illusionary spaces in which gardens and rooms appear to fold in on each other, simultaneously capturing the realism and ephemerality of daily life as well as its excitement and poetry. In addition to major works demonstrating Nakayama’s flexible touch, new oil paintings and drawings created especially for this exhibition are on display. Come experience these mysterious scenes interchanging indoor and outdoor worlds.
