Message to Adolf, Seventy Years After WWII
Takarazuka City Tezuka Osamu Manga Museum
This event has ended.
While Osamu Tezuka had produced several manga addressing themes of war before “Message to Adolf,” this series that became a cornerstone of following works responded to his editor’s request for “a thoroughly series drama.” It was Tezuka’s first work to portray war not in terms of good or evil, but as a metaphysical experience only someone who lived through it could depict. Tezuka spent both his formative years and time during the war in Takarazuka, and “Message to Adolf” captures the fear of death he experienced first-hand in this time and place.
