This event has ended.

One of Tadanori Yokoo’s major projects since 2000 has been his Y-Junction painting series based on photographs he took of a vacant lot where a toy replica shop in his hometown of Nishiwaki, Hyogo Prefecture once stood. There are no traces of nostalgia in these photographs of buildings and bisecting roads appearing out of the flash’s glare. Detached from all sentimentality, these foreign night scenes have had a great influence on Yokoo’s style of art production – In “Y-Junction,” he experiments with stripping his paintings of all personal elements to create something universal. In addition to “Y-Junction” paintings created since 2006, works from the “Onsen” (hotspring) series, as well as the painterly experiment “Black Y-Junction” are on display in this exhibition of some 70 works.
