Replicating and compiling photography and film so that these images become out of synch, Palla/Kazuhiko Kawahara creates extraordinary worlds from everyday scenes. Past works have vividly portrayed the dynamism created from motifs both simple and complex, such as cities as humans’ natural environments, and the greenery of nature. Presenting new works including video, the artist’s first exhibition in Kyoto focuses on moments and processes in which time and space in these replicated images detach from their frameworks, unveiling invisible dimensions, or “sections” of moments generated from images. This exhibition is part of KG+.
