This event has ended.
Dusseldorf born artist Oliver Sieberhas been involved in transmitting photographic culture not only as a photographer, but also as a curator, designer, and publisher, the common thread being a fascination with the individuality and identity of young people and with the youth culture that is intimately involved in its creation. His keen interest in Japan stemmed from a 2006 exchange project between Osaka Prefecture and the city of Dusseldorf, resulting in the series, J Subs, on the theme of Japan’s subcultures. Two other photographic series also feature in this solo exhibition: his debut work SkinsModsTeds (1999) featuring multiple portrait photos according to a fixed pattern; and Imaginary Club (2005-2012), shot on visits to night clubs, parties and concerts and live houses from Japan to Germany and America.
* This exhibition is part of the Kyotographie International Photography Festival.
