The Next World Archaeological Congress (WAC), also known as the “Archeology Olympics,” will be held in Kyoto. In celebration of this announcement, the Museum of Kyoto presents an exhibition on the modern archeology that has contributed to the development of Japanese archeology today. Introducing the fascination and scope of the field, it focuses on the “archeology salons” hosted in Kyoto in the Edo period and the work of archeologists with ties to the city. Displayed works will be alternated during the exhibition period.
