Daisuke Ito spent time in 2011 living in and photographing the Brazilian favela (slum) of Babilônia, a place once considered the most dangerous in the world, but which has undergone rapid change ahead of the World Cup and Olympic games. Ito’s photographs capture Babilônia’s transformations, its unchanging people, daily life, and the occasional frenzy of the place.
