2015 marks the 400th anniversary since Hon’ami Kōetsu, considered to be the ancestor of the Rimpa painting style, was granted a large area of land called Takagamine in the Rakuhoku area of northern Kyoto. In the first exhibition of its kind at the Hosomi Museum, up-and-coming Kyoto-based artists have selected a Rimpa item from the Hosomi collection, and formed a collaboration with their own work.
