This event has ended.

The loss of Shoji Ueda’s beloved wife in 1983 was one of the catalysts for his return to “a playful spirit of photography,” and he soon began producing works on 35 mm polaroid film that had just gone on the market. Unlike advertisement photographers, Ueda was committed to being a “lifelong amateur” who approached everyday scenes and subjects in a straightforward way, producing works through a process resembling repeated wordless dialogues. His “Return to Orbit” series reflects his mental landscapes and represents a return to the “amateur spirit.” Around 30 of the original 60 works from this series are on display.
