The annual 1floor open-call exhibition was started in 2008 to support the education and training of young artists and curators. The eighth exhibit features the work of two artists – Satoshi Kawata, an illustrator who studied fresco painting and creates giant murals for places such as elementary schools and public bath houses, and Yuma Yamashiro, whose works on unusually shaped canvases feature what appear to be images of himself walking through the scenes. See how these two artists apply their very different approaches to the space.
