A representative of the Japanese avant-garde art movement Mono-ha from the late-1960s and early-1970s, Susumu Koshimizu is a leading figure in Japanese contemporary art today. By presenting the various phases of materials as they are, Koshimizu calls our own existence to mind. His eye is always on the physical presence and essence of the object, its borders, and its shifting forms, an approach that brings space the object is in into focus.
