This event has ended.

The third session of Enoco [study?], Enoco’s artist support program, exhibits works by Hiroyasu Yukawa and Keiichi Nakayasu, who were selected in a public application process to create works while based out of the Enoco studio. Yukawa’s work is centered on the garment industry, while Nakayasu is a currently practicing historical scholar.

Starting in October, Yukawa and Nakayasu conducted surveys and fieldwork on themes of “customs, barriers, and sculpture,” focusing on conventional behaviors and the places they can be observed. As part of their research, they carried out creative experiments with the city of Osaka as their stage, visiting zoos, setting up charity donation boxes, and recruiting people for part-time “work” collecting thrown-out cans. Through the material aspects of events encoded in contemporary society, Yukawa and Nakayasu ask to what extent customs create society, and to what extent society produces customs. Here they present a few of their findings in the form of sculptures.
