While Japan remains a popular subject for photographers, the essence of Japanese culture captured with adoration through the lens of Metke Vernion is a mysteriously beautiful world blending reality and unreality through computer-based digital manipulation. “Seeking Stillness,” part of Vernion’s “Spiritual Garden” series, pursues the deep calm of Japanese rock gardens, the vast universes that open up in their tranquility, and the enigmas of their meditative realms. This is the Geneva-based artist’s first exhibition in Kyoto.
